Life update!
5 September 2009 03:01SO....I've been kind of MIA the past week or so, right?
Well, I spent the weekend at Christy's, hanging out and cuddling Chandler. And ooommmgggg. That baby is so fucking precious and utterly amazing. Like. Yeah, okay, babies are awesome, but...he just makes my heart warm.
And then I got a call from Christy on Monday, asking me to come to the DR's office with her on Wednesday morning. She needed someone to keep an eye on Chandler while they did her checkup and since Kenneth is picking up extra hours on the third shift, he couldn't go. I said sure, and all that fun stuff. Spend Tuesday night.
We had some car troubles in that the driver's side window in Kenneth's car had the cable break on the power window thing. So their mechanic got it up with some vice grips and all, but it's still dicey. Which is double ENNNH, when you factor in that Christy's car had the water pump AND the timing belt go out in it. At the same time.
But after that Wednesday, I happily accepted the offer to spend the night again, because by the evening, we were both fucking exhausted.
So, spent the night again and I was helping her out by letting her bathe him and toss laundry into the washing machine and dryer, etc. Little things that add up, basically, and that's when she approached me with the deal of letting me basically be Chandler's nanny for a few days in the week.
I was hesitant at first, thinking that maybe it was out of pity, but turns out that Christy actually really trusts me with him and is delighted by the fact that he's actually sort of taken with me. He doesn't MIND others holding him, but he's chilled out when I get my hands on him. (I'm rather pleased with that, to be perfectly honest. :-D)
So, I start Monday, which sounds odd, because they're both out of work, BUT she wants to have a mild trial period where they're there, but pretending to not be there, so they can observe me. I'm perfectly fine with that. Because yeah, I get it. (I have twin brothers who I was around from the time they were 3 weeks old until they were about...11 months that I was around nearly constantly and I was nervy when our Dad would hold them. And I was just their sister, you know?)
My schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday next week. I'm doing Friday because Christy's Mom is keeping Chandler on the other days, but she's going on vacation, thus, I'm grabbing an extra day.
SO. For this upcoming week, this is my schedule:
Week of September 7th - 11th
Monday: 12:00pm - 5:30pm
Tuesday: 10:30am - 5:30pm
Wednesday: OFF
Thursday:10:30am - 5:30pm
Friday: 8:00am - 5:30pm
The deal is for about $50.00 dollars a week, which is pretty great, considering she lives all of 10 minutes away from me. (I'll get 75 for that up there, but I'll get paid the week of the 14th once she gets paid...and I'll get 2 weeks etc)
But other than that first week, this is my standard schedule:
Week of September 14th - 18th
Monday: 7:30am - 5:30pm
Tuesday: 10:30am - 5:30pm
Wednesday: OFF
Thursday:10:30am - 5:30pm
Friday: OFF
So YEAH. I am utterly delighted with this turn of events. Plus, I have the opportunity to get a library page job, which is a bunch of filing etc. They'll start me out at 9.15 an hour which is UTTERLY FANTASTIC. AND my Uncle Gary is getting me a job doing infield security at the racetrack in October.
