PART 1!

Ray Toro! He's a zoologist who works at the zoo (duh), but he works with the reptiles and all while he studies to become a vet. Mister Gee (♥) has him in once every week to talk about the animals and sometimes Mister Ray (♥) brings in actual ANIMALS. Like the one time, he brought in a snake, and Brendon was too scared to touch it, but Ray made it have a funny voice and after that Brendon thought it was pretty cool.

Brendon's in one of the older classrooms though, which means he doesn't get to see Mister Ray so often, and that kind of makes him sad, y'know. So Mister Ray makes sure to need a helper when he comes in, and that's kind of AWESOME.

Brendon starts eating paste because the first time he did, it made Pete's eyes go wide. And Pete's kind of cool, so Brendon figures that he'll just keep eating more. It's weird, because he doesn't really think about it, he just DOES. He

He eats the paste and he makes a record and to Brendon? That's pretty fucking cool.

ANOTHER SHENANIGAN is when Brendon mixes all the paints together and Patrick bops him on the head. Patrick can be a little violent about those paints, and on one hand, Mister Gee wants to agree and commiserate, but on the other hand, MISTER GEE, PATRICK HIT ME. TELL PATRICK NOT TO BE MEAN.

And of course, that gets Pete on Brendon's case, but it's okay, 'cause on the playground, Pete pushes Brendon on the swings. And Patrick too.

BOB BRYAR, YO! Bob's a guy with his own studio and Gerard met him YEARS ago through Frank, since they both teach. Gerard was struggling with a way to fill up the Fridays with something fun and educational, and Frank was like, "Oh, hey, my buddy Bob needs something to do on Fridays. Why not try him out?"

And the thing is, Gerard was always going to be kind of shy and awkward, except when it came to teaching his kids. Teaching became a way to escape the need for a drink or anything else, and when he throws himself into it, he gets the best rewards. Frank sort of worries about him, because Gerard works SO HARD for these kids and it's crazy, because those kids ADORE Gerard.

But Gerard's kind of lonely.

So when Bob starts coming in to do the music classes, Gerard starts feeling that fluttery feeling that makes him go OH CRAP, because y'know. It's Gerard. He tells Mikey this and Mike rolls his eyes, because whatever. That's stupid.

Bob finally bites the bullet one day after class and smiles up at Gerard from where he's packing some drums up, almost shy and sweet before speaking.

"Hey, so. This might be really stupid, but you wanna go grab a bite to eat after you get out of here?"

And Gerard INTENDS on saying no, he really does, but Bob's smiling up at him with that sweet smile and those eyes and he just says yes. He says yes and blushes and the ~moment is interrupted by the one and only Pete Wentz.

"MISTER GEEEEE, WILL YOU JUDGE THE PASTE EATING CONTEST OR DO I GOTTA DO IT? I DON'T THINK I CAN JUDGE AND TALK AT THE SAME TIME!"

~~~
MIKEY FUCKING WAY. He works at the zoo, but he doesn't really know Ray, because they run in totally different areas. Ray works with reptiles and Mikey sort of prefers the furrier things. Like the lemurs. Basically, most of the Africa exibit.
He's always planning little games to show Gee so that Gerard can show his class, and Mikey's favorite days are when Gerard brings the class in. (Even if that one weird kid keeps talking to Mikey about paste-eating contests. Which, y'know, kind of cool, because Mikey was always the one eating paste. Nice to know things don't change and all.)
But when Mikey does meet Ray, they hit it off, because Ray likes talking to Mikey and Mikey the same, but even better, they like LISTENING. And when Ray introduces Mikey to Brian, Mikey's a little embarrassed by how much he really likes Brian. (A fact which Ray laments and makes fun of all at once)
So it's this thing where Mikey and Brian flirt, but Mikey keeps his distance, because he kind of feels stuck, working on this Africa exhibit without any kind of degree. Because y'know, there's Toro over there with the reptiles and his zoology degree working on his veterinary medicine degree and Mikey's just.
Mikey.
But they get past that REAL quick when Brian overhears that. Because Brian's having absolutely none of that shit, you hear me? He basically bullies Mikey into smiling more and into laughing and into actually engaging with people that aren't Gerard. Meanwhile, Ray kind of mopes, because...y'know, watching that kind of sucks.
Well. It does until Brian almost orders him out on a date with Brian and Mikey.
It doesn't suck so much after that.
Andy likes to preach about it, but man. Growing up vegan's kind of weird, what with all the cannibals. (Andy, in fact, does call them cannibals, which gets him in trouble when it explains it. It also leads to some moments where other kids get sick on the playground and has Mister Gee freaking out.)
But after a hunger strike at school, that's when Frank steps in. Because Frank gets it, okay? So he talks to Andy's parents about vegan alternatives and everything and things get a lot better.
Except for how Andy takes to trying to tell everyone about how MEAT IS MURDER, OKAY, YOU GUYS? MURDER. YOU'RE KILLING ANIMALS.
And Gabe's just, yeah, but The Cobra reincarnates them as awesome things.
And Andy's just THAT IS NOT THE POINT, IDIOT.
So it all comes to a head when Mister Gee gently talks to him about how to TALK about his issues with other kids, even when it comes to stuff like they eat meat and Andy doesn't.
Andy would love to listen, but he's got a reputation to uphold these days.
Little Andy Mrotek's one of those kids that you look at and you think, "wow, ahahaha, nice," because he's just off the wall. He loves art, he loves paint and the messier the better. His parents are kind of arty and they encourage him drawing on himself as a form of expression. He draws mostly birds and trees which is an indicator of what's to come!
He got the nickname King Butcher because there were some bullies on the playground and he sort of declared himself King Of The Playground, because he's gonna protect little Adam Siska who's tiny and shy with fluffy hair. (Plus, Andy loves drawing on Adam.)
So on every Friday, when the school has wacky dress day, Butcher comes to school in little paper crown and he lets Adam decorate it. Usually Pete ends up messing up with it, but whatever, Butcher thinks it's all art in the end.
Also. Butcher is known to use food coloring to paint on skin. Because clearly, that's the best way to practice. (What he's practicing, no one really knows.)
Okay, so obviously, Tommy Conrad ("TOM, YOU GUYS. TOM.") is best friends with Jon Walker. He's a quiet kid, but he's kind of prone to accidents. Like he's one of those kids who can fall off the top of a swing set and just bounce back. He's in the same class as Jon, so he kind of meets Brendon too. Tom's just an easy going kid until he starts worrying.
He meets Max when his class is doing this thing of reading to the younger kids. He meets Max 'cause Max is the only one plinking out little melodies on the dinosaur piano. (The dinosaur piano was always Tom's favorite, so he always makes a point to visit it.)
They hang out and become friends.
Meanwhile, over in the other daycare-school like thing, Alfred meets Sean the same way everyone meets Sean.
Because Sean's loudly singing all sorts of songs, despite what Miss Cassadee is trying to do. Sean doesn't care, because that's how Sean is.
Alfred adores him after a long few weeks of trying to ignore and pay attention to him. (eventually, Sean goes over and shoves a hand into Alfred's hair and just goes, "Oh. Cool," and that, seems to herald a fair amount of their friendship.)
The boys meet one day when they're at the park with their families. Max knows Sean from down the block and Tom's well.
Tom.
But they manage to become friends and pretty soon it's like a gang. Butcher draws them all little badges that they wear on their shirts so nobody messes with Tom or Max (because then Alfred and Sean'll get 'em.) and nobody messes with Alfred or Sean because Tom and Max will throw down.
All in all, pretty normal kids. Until they hit their teen years and become GIANT BALLS OF ANGST.
