Yep, I went and saw them again. (This makes...I think my 14th gig)

I took pictures but I was captivated by the opening band.

Their name's Blanco Diablo

They're a pretty decent band, definately interesting to watch.  I found myself flush against the small wooden partition against the stage on the bassist's (Patrick) side of the stage.

I've seen these guys a couple of times and they haven't really impressed me until now.  They're fun, a good precursor to Zoso.

In fact, if it tells you something, I took more pictures of Blanco Diablo than I did Zoso!  They've got an album out, and my Mom bought it.

I really, really, really tried to get pictures of the drummer, Jeff, I swear.  But due to lights and stuff...I got...this...

But, that being said, I got some pretty good pictures of Jamie and Patrick.  The fact that this band is a 3 piece amazes me, they've got such a full sound.

I'd definately go see them again.

Occassionally, when I'm taking pictures something about when I take it effects what actually is captured.  Sometimes light hits something on the guitar or whatever and everything blurs.

Or sometimes you get a freaky hand extension...

Of course, because they're sometimes so cool, I LOVE them.

I was trying to go for sort of backlit (like in another picture later on) type thing, but it didn't work.  I do like this picture for some unexplicable reason.

I'm really, really proud of this picture.  Patrick is more of the frontman personalitiy.  Jamie, the singer, reminds me highly of someone raised on Skynyrd and the Allmans.  The drummer is...a total goof.  Very Keith Moon-ish.

This one, is another one that I'm highly proud of.  It's Jamie, the singer, and this came out more amazing than I could have planned for.

A few months ago, I went onto Zoso's site to check for tourdates.  I noticed that it said Mike, the guitarist for Zoso, was sick and that Jay Bobo, their former guitarist would be taking over duties until he was well.

I was sad, because Mike's a great guy, and a wonderful guitarist, but I put it out of my mind.  So about a week or so before our May show (May 6th) I went back onto the site and checked it out only to discover that the announcement about Mike's illness and Jay's temping was gone.

So after the May 6th show, me and Mom asked Matt what was wrong.  All he said was "perhaps Mike should start telling you guys". (because at this point, Jay was still temping after a few months)

So hmm...

We never did find out what was wrong.

But, for saturday's gig, Mike was there, which was something that delighted me.  He was the first guitarist I saw with Zoso, he always made a point to chat with me and Mom and always gave me a few smiles and a wink during the show.  (he's also got a thing for mom. *snicker*)

So, no matter how good Jay is (because he IS quite good) I simply like Mike better.

After the show, I got a quick hug and a kiss on the cheek from Johnny who held my hand for a few minutes.  (long enough to tell me "Everytime I see you, your hair's different!")

I was gonna ask for a drumstick, but Mike must have been feeling bad.  He walked across the stage and shook hands and leaned down to give me a hug.  Instead of feeling hot and sweaty he was sorta clammy, but he did come over and shake hands and stuff.

Matt, the singer, was exceedingly nice and gave me a bright smile when he saw me.  Adam, who is the bassist, leaned down for a quick chat.

I've seen these guys everytime they've come to Charlotte since the week after I turned 16, in 2003.  They know me by at least sight, and by the fact that I wear my Zoso shirt that I got at my very first gig.

Extremely nice guys and exceedingly talented.

This is Matt, the singer, I got a bunch of good shots of him.  Unfortunately, because I only brought 1 roll of film in, I have a lot of ruined shots because of the lights reflecting and all.  And I kept saying, "just one more" during Blanco Diablo's set and so...yeah. *laughs*

BUT, I've got some amazing shots that I'm proud of here.  I didn't get many of Mike, because I wasn't on his side...(That's how you can tell I'm on his side of the stage, there's lots of shots of him.) and I was on Adam's.

Unfortunately, that man does NOT stay still.

I tried for a few shots of Johnny and this is the best one that I was able to get...

Not a very good shot, but like with that one Patrick photo, there's something about it that I like.

Remember those weird...flares I guess...I was talking about?  Here's a prime example.

For those curious, Zoso bases a good deal of their set around the Song Remains The Same set.  This time we didn't get Since I Been Lovin' You (which is amazing to watch Mike during) or In My Time Of Dying....he just did NOT look as though he felt well.

Here's one of Matt that I had hoped would have came out better.  Unfortunately it's a bit blurry, but I fucking love it all the same.

Like I said before, I have a crapload of Matt shots, but it's okay.  I normally get the really weird icky shots of him, so it's nice to have it evened out. *laughs*

This last one, is one that I found highly entertaining, simply because of when I took it.  *laughs*

It's Mike, during probably ....Immigrant Song because that's when he uses the most hand signals, and because that guitar is the first one he used.

Notice his hand and face?

Sooooo yeah.

That was my Saturday.

(On Friday, I went and saw a comedian by the name of Jeff Dunham.  If you go to YouTube and type in 'Jeff Dunham" and you should get some video results.  Hilarious as hell.)
