Fic: Escapes and Exchanges (Mike Carden/Kevin Jonas) (Rating: G)

akire_yta and I thought this snippet that never went any further fit one of the pictures perfectly.

Summary: Kevin sighs into Mike's mouth and when Mike wraps his arms around Kevin, all he feels is warmth.

Mike wakes up in an empty bed, the rumpled covers beside him making him blink as he gets up and makes his way downstairs. He rubs a hand over his hair, feeling the ends stick up and the creases in his face from his pillow. At the window, Kevin's sitting on the floor, looking up and out, watching the flakes fall. They're fat flakes, and Mike knows more than anything, Kevin's going to drag him out in it later. A quick glance to the clock says that it's just after five in the morning and while Mike wants to go back to bed, there's something about the peace of watching it - and watching Kevin - snow. Granted, he's used to the snow, but whatever. He likes seeing Kevin so relaxed and easy.
"What the fuck are you doing still up?" Mike says, padding into the living room, standing behind Kevin and looking outside. Snow's coming down, fat flakes swirling through the night air and getting caught in the halo of light from the streetlamp.
"Got up to go to the bathroom and it was snowing. Wanted to watch it."
The hazy, blue light shines in, barely showing up on Kevin, but when Mike sits down on the floor across from Kevin, it shines off his curls. Mike's not in the habit of mush, of being it or even hearing it, but looking at Kevin makes him want to claim him. It makes Mike want to hold his hand and never stop telling him how much he loves him.
It's a little different, Mike thinks, as Kevin finally turns to look at him, hair mussed and chest bare, but it doesn't matter. A shiver runs through Kevin, the bare hint of goose-flesh rippling the skin on Kevin's arms. The apartment isn't very cold, but Mike thinks that his ass has gone numb.
"Come on. Back to bed," Mike says, standing and tugging on Kevin's hand, feeling the callouses and the hint of softer skin where he used to wear his purity ring.
They don't mention it, they don't talk about it, but the one thing Mike does is hold Kevin close whenever it starts to bother him. Like tonight, when Kevin's thumb keeps sweeping over the smooth skin on his finger, face screwed up in concentration, like his face gets when he's puzzling through some new guitar sound. Normally, Mike would be smiling at it, but all he can do now is to smooth his thumb across the lines that wrinkle Kevin's forehead.
"Stop stressing about it," Mike says, voice soft as Kevin nods, looking at him with soft eyes. Kevin leans against him, their foreheads resting together gently and when Kevin speaks, there's something in Mike's chest that sighs in relief.
"I'm not stressing about it. Honestly. I'm just thinking over everything. A year ago, I'd just met you. A year ago, I wasn't. Comfortable," Kevin says, nose brushing against Mike's and Mike feels himself sigh. He doesn't hear it, but he feels his chest expand and relax and when Kevin smiles at him, Mike leans up, kissing him firmly.
Mike knows that sometimes not wearing the ring feels off to Kevin, he knows it, and there are times when all Mike wants to do is give him a ring to replace it. Kevin sighs into Mike's mouth and when Mike wraps his arms around Kevin, all he feels is warmth.
