Show report and pictures!! Panic! At The Disco, Charlotte NC, 5/31/2011

So, as most of you are aware, myself, [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum and [livejournal.com profile] fictionalfaerie all went to see Panic! At The Disco the other night here in Charlotte!

LOTS OF IMAGES. BIG IMAGES. YOU ARE WAAARRNNEEEDDD.

So on Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum came into the horribly humid state of North Carolina wherein he promptly said "Oh my god, this fucking humidity."

But we hung out here at the house for a couple of days, hanging out in the AC wherein he demanded I make earrings. And since I'm a sucker for [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum I did just that. XD

On the day of the show, we started getting ready and I started getting directions from my Mom's friend, Cina (Addy's mother). And that was...something. Partly my own fault because I never thought to check that the way I had been sure of going was still open, but also because sometimes I have absolutely zero patience for Cina. [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum suggested google maps a few times, but I don't always trust them, not for stuff in Charlotte, but looking back, I wish we HAD gotten secondary directions from there.

I am such a nervous driver when it comes to being on the interstate and usually I'm pretty snappish when I drive and get nervous and stressy, so thankfully, I didn't bite [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum's head off or anything. I just freaked out a lot before finally going with my gut instinct and figuring my way out.

At any rate, we got there in one piece, so I'll count it as a good thing in the end. XD

While we were walking up, I noticed someone running right to us, to which I shouted out "ASHLEY!" and then there was a total hug-fest and hanging out with two of my favorite-est people in the entire world, no lie.

Photobucket
[livejournal.com profile] fictionalfaerie is adorable and I ♥ heeerrr.

And then she licked my face.
Photobucket
No, but really, she licked my face and then we had a giggle fest. 'Cause that is how we roll. Or something.

And then [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum and I got a couple of pictures together!

Photobucket

Photobucket
Seriously, you guys. He and I are the cutest ever, you have to admit.

Let's see...then [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum and I made our way back to where the M&G people were waiting and while standing around, Zack walked by, bitching about the humidity (as you do). And I jokingly said, "welcome to the south" and he points at me and goes "HEY, I moved away from this place for this very reason, don't welcome me to anything" and it was hilarious and awesome and I high-fived him.

At this point, I'm pretty sure Zack started creeping up in rank as my favorite.

So we go and stand in the shade with a bunch of the others who had meet and greet, while Zack wandered around. I think we were waiting on some late-comers? I'm not totally sure, but at one point, Zack did wander by us and sing, in a lovely falsetto, a tiny bit of Rihanna's S&M, because the radio station tent was playing it. It was amazing and I love Zack Hall.

We talked briefly to some girls standing around before Zack came over and made us all line up (and used me as a reference point!) (no joke, he looked around and then looked at me, pointed and goes "I want you guys to form a line behind this girl in the pink scarf" or something like that (I don't remember EXACTLY, BUT HE POINTED AT ME.) and I was like *_*) before we walked in. We then walked by [livejournal.com profile] fictionalfaerie and gave her delighted high fives before walking into the sweet blessed air conditioning.

I felt kind of bad for [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum because jesus christ, the day of our concert is one of the hottest days from his visit. I think he was going to melt...to be fair, so was I. XD

When we walked in, Foxy Shazam were soundchecking and I attempted to sneak a couple of pictures and got one before Zack was like "Okay, turn around." to everyone so we couldn't watch. Ahahahaa.
Photobucket

After making sure things were in place, Zack came over and told us about his rules for the meet and greet, along with the infamous DON'T BE CREEPY speech. I seriously had a hard time not giggling the ENTIRE TIME he was lecturing.

My personal favorite was "Something about when I bring those dudes into the room makes something in your brain that says "stop hugging now" just STOP and then I have to come in and put a hand on your little body and a hand on their little body and pull you apart." and I was just DYING because ohgod, their little body. AMAZING, ZACK HALL.

There was another moment where he was telling us about proper signing protocol and such, like if we wanted an item of clothing signed, it had to be off of our bodies. Which then involved a demonstration of how to air your shoe out if you wanted it signed off. Oh, and then Zack climbed up on the table, stretched out, looked at all of us and went "THIS IS NOT APPROPRIATE. DON'T DO IT."

I love Zack Hall, I can't even.

And because I'm lazy, I am going to copy and paste my entry from the other night. LAZY, FTW.

I took in one of the hollow books I made a few months back (one of the ones for Empires, ahahaha) to have signed (because it fit into my purse), and when I put it on the table, Spencer was like, “Oh, what..this. Did you make this?” and I was like YES. :-) And then he flip-flopped on the ONE PAGE I left in the book trying to decide where I wanted him to sign.

And then Dallon was like “OH, YOU’VE GOT A LITTLE SECRET HIDING PLACE!!” and then he made a Shawshank Redemption comment that I couldn’t quite hear but was still delighted over.

And then I got to Ian and my brain, like, shorted out, what even. He asked me what I carved it with and then Dallon or Spencer said something like, “Man, I need one of those” and it took all my effort to not shout out something like I WILL MAKE YOU ONE, I SWEAR TO GOD. Ian was like, THIS IS SO COOL :-D :-D :-D :-D.

Guys, seriously, Ian Crawford is like a puppy. A puppy that I wanna put in my purse. And bring home.

And then I got to Brendon, who exclaimed over the book and told me that it was “very cool” and then read the joke/quote on the inside and made the dorkiest little laugh-giggle thing that I’ve ever heard and told me “I agree, I agree!” and thanked me for coming.

So when I went up for my picture, I had planned on asking for bro-tastic fist pounds, for the lols, of course, and when I went over, Ian got his HAPPY PUPPY face on and was like “HI THERE *BEAMBEAMBEAM*” and I was totally disarmed and distracted and it was amazing. I’m like an inch or so taller than he is. IN MY POCKET. RIGHT NOW, CRAWFORD. (I’m kind of slouching in this picture, but I LOVE that there’s an incline of heights, idek.)

SO YEAH.

Photobucket

But no, seriously, IN MY POCKET RIGHT THE FUCK NOW, IAN. He was adorable and I was so CHARMED by him, you guys.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum and I kept exclaiming over Spencer Smith's ankles and the fact that he's kind of like a Victorian Lady because SERIOUSLY, WE ARE GETTING ALL !!!!! OVER HIS ANKLES.

And then we made our way up to the barrier to hang out because FUCK YEAH, EARLY ENTRY. I let [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum have the actual barrier, because lololol I am a Sasquatch. We stood on Ian's side because IAAANNN.

Foxy Shazam soon came out, and I'm not even entirely sure what I was actually expecting but it was...I can't even describe it. I do agree with both [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum and [livejournal.com profile] fictionalfaerie that I wish that Foxy Shazam had came on second with the longer set rather than fun.

At any rate, the only thing I can really think to say is that it was the most amazing set I've seen in a long time, because it was almost like performance art in a weird way? Like, as a frontman, Eric (I think that's his name) quite puts me in the mind of Freddie Mercury, and I don't say that LIGHTLY. The entire band were amazingly charged and the songs were damned good. I mean, keep in mind, before the set, I had heard a couple of songs (3 maybe?) and I came out of the set going "WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST WATCH AND WHY DO I WANNA SEE IT AGAIN?"

PICTURES! These guys were STUPIDLY HARD to get pictures of, but oh god, they are amazing to watch.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
This was when they first came out on the stage and the two of them sang together and then the band came out and they blew me away.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
I adored watching this guy. HE WAS ALL DANCY AND BOUNCY AND JESUS, I would have died in those pants.

Photobucket
At one point, I stared at the keyboardist with my mouth ACTUALLY hanging open.

Photobucket

Photobucket
He was wearing the most amazing stage outfit ever, oh my god.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
For a while there, after their set, I continually amused myself with the thought of Eric (I think that's his name) and Ryan Rossy trading clothes. And the hilarity of the Young Veins opening up for Foxy Shazam. IT SOUNDS EVEN MORE AMAZING THAN MY BRAIN CAN HANDLE.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
This was hilarious to watch, I can't even. (The singer was vigorously humping the guitarist's neck. And now I can only imagine Brendon wanting to try it, but Ian is not down with that, okay, guys?)

Photobucket

Okay, so after Foxy Shazam, I continued making friends with the people behind me. We had chatted before Foxy came on about things such as: Empires (ALMOST ALL OF THEM WERE AT CHARLOTTE LAST YEAR, OMG), Doctor Who, and jewelry making (okay, this was one person, but whatever). IT WAS PRETTY AMAZING. I MADE FRIENDS WITH A GINGER STEAMPUNK GUY, HE WAS DELIGHTFUL, SERIOUSLY. They all were amazingly nice. Later on, when Panic came onstage and the pit surged really hard, I almost went off of the barrier ramp and if that had happened, I would have probably broken my fucking ankle, jesus...but the guy and his friends grabbed me and pulled me back so I didn't fall. I LOVE PEOPLE LIKE THAT AT SHOWS. (Meanwhile, [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum was totally making some teenie friends, heeee!)

And then fun. came onstage!!

They were adorable, but they kind of brought the engery WAY down, which isn't exactly what you want before your main band comes onstage. However, they were sweet, and [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum shouted out that he loved Emily and got an adorable grin from her onstage. It was pretty awesome.

I really adored them and would love to see them again, but I wish that Foxy's set had been longer.

I think it was right around here whenever [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum shouted I LOVE YOU, EMILY or something to that effect and got an adorable grin from said pretty lady. (seriously guys, so pretty.)

Favorite. XD

AND THEN OMFG, TIME FOR PAAAANIIICCCCCC. They came out with Ready To Go, and HOLY FUCKING SHIT, I CAN'T EVEN. The crowd was SUPER loud with singing. Like, [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum and I were right in front of the speakers and even still, there were moments during THE WHOLE SHOW where I couldn't actually hear a lot of Panic. It was amazing. And thankfully, someone's uploaded video of it!! You can't hear A LOT of the crowd, not like you could there, obviously, but still. ♥___♥ (I think this was recorded right beside the soundboard because you can hear Brendon SO CLEARLY. And mmm, soundboard.)

WARNING: THE VIDEO IS SUPER SHAKY, BUT THE AUDIO IS A++++.

Seriously, that is a perfect song opener. It's actually more perfect than when they opened up the Civic Tour with We're So Starving. (which was still pretty fucking adorable, idgaf)

Brendon seriously did not let his ankle get him down or anything of the sort, jesus christ. He was limping fairly badly by the end of the set, but he was adorable while talking to the audience. There seemed to be a little more...hm. Candor, I guess is the word? with the audience this time around. In 2008, he was personable and I don't particularly know if it's because I met him before the show or what, but it felt way more personable. Also, he's really actually grown as a performer and a live vocalist from 2008. It was delightful.

AND IAN. OH MY GOD, IAN. At one point, I was the dorkiest of dorks and held my hands up in a heart to him and grinned and he just BEAMED right back. SERIOUSLY GUYS, SOMEONE HELP ME STEAL HIM. HE'S TINY, HE'LL FIT IN MY PURSE.

Also, they did Trade Mistakes which is one of my absolute favoritefavoritefavorite songs off of Vices and Virtues. I loved their backdrop (it worked with the stage lighting SO PERFECTLY), and Brendon's voice was a little more rough than it is on the album, obviously, and I'm weird and thought it sounded lovely. Then again, I'm only noticing it in the video, ahahaha.

I didn't really get to see much of Dallon, but having looked at his Twitter, he apparently wasn't feeling well, poor thing. However, for all that Brendon was really kind of sedate in bringing the stage gay, Dallon and Ian TOTALLY picked up the slack.

Seriously, it was hilarious and delightful and also, can we talk about how much of a foxy, foxy man Spencer Smith is?

SERIOUSLY, THE MAN IS SMOKING HOT. I did the impossible and actually managed to get a bunch of pictures of him, HOLY SHIT.

Let's see...then a couple of the guys from fun. came out and did C'mon with Panic, which was one of the only songs that I noticed sort of...lost the crowd. The crowd was into it, just not as much as the guys onstage were.

IDK, HAVE SOME PANIC PICTURES:

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
STUPID MICSTAND. LOOK AT HOW TINY IAN IS COMPARED TO DALLON. I CAN'T EVEN, OMG.

Photobucket
I'm not even sure why I love this one.

Photobucket
BUT I DEFINITELY KNOW WHY I LOVE THIS ONE. BRENDON'S FACE, OMG, I CANNOT EVEN HANDLE IT.

Photobucket

Photobucket
I CAN'T EVEN.

Photobucket
I am so very, very, very pleased with this photo.

Photobucket
ONE OF THESE THINGS IS NOT LIKE THE OTHER. XD (I do not know his name because I am lazy and do not feel like looking right at this moment. I apologize.)

Photobucket
So this is one that I am super, duper proud of. I love it totally.

Photobucket
IAN IS SO TINY.

Photobucket
I got some remarkably good photos of Brendon.

Photobucket
I took A LOT of Ian, but only a few came out because the little shit moves so much. (I LOVE IT. ♥___♥)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
HEY, LOOK, PICTURES OF DALLON. ALL THREE THAT CAME OUT. XD

At the end of the show, Spencer took a photo of all of us from his kit...and me being a dork, got a picture of him taking a picture of us.

What's hilarious is that in the picture from Charlotte that he took and uploaded...you can see a picture of me taking a picture of Spencer taking a picture.

Whoa. Dude. XD

Photobucket

And then Ian came over and ripped up his setlist and MADE EYE-CONTACT WITH [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum OH MY GOD. MADE EYE-CONTACT AND THREW IT AND THEN WATCHED IN DISMAY AS IT FLUTTERED. He caught it again and then made eye-contact AGAIN and threw it directly to him. [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum almost had to beat a teenie down for trying to grab it from him, ahahaha.

I just. I can't even, I LOVE HIM.

So after that delight, we made our way over to [livejournal.com profile] fictionalfaerie and her boyfriend (because she opted for a prime Brendon view, heee) and decided we wanted to head back to our cars and decide on something to eat or whatever.

I honestly think that I would have been happy to just hang out with my two favorite people ever, seriously. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

But instead, we hung out in our cars, guzzled some water while [livejournal.com profile] fictionalfaerie talked to her Em and then I got to talk to Em! So delightful, you guys don't even know. ♥

After that, we went out to eat and then, sadly enough, it was time for us to depart. :-/ I got more amazing hugs from Ashley (seriously, omg, she is tiny, but she will hug the life out of you and it is awesome) and then we headed home.

Photobucket
And then another when [livejournal.com profile] fictionalfaerie's boyfriend was told how to work the camera. XD

Photobucket

SO YEAH. That was the concert and shenanigans. It was a nice relief in the middle of all the stress that's going on in my family right now. I know it's going to get better, but it helps to look at this as some little calm in the middle of the storm or something.

I dunno, it was some of the best days ever, seriously. ♥ ♥ ♥

You are welcome to link back to this entry and post these pictures elsewhere. The only thing I ask is that if you post the pictures somewhere else (on Tumblr or wherever) is that you either credit me here on LJ or at MayQueen517 on Tumblr.
