Top Five Essentials for Writing/Creating
I'm splitting this up, because...for me, these are two totally different things.
Writing
1.) Music - If I'm writing, I have to have music on. I CAN write in silence, that's fine, but I do a million times better if I've got music on.
2.) Headphones! Headphones are a must when you live with my Gramma. She has this lovely habit of talking idly, bitching about every. stupid. little. thing. she can think of and if I have my headphones on. Well. Yeah.
3.) Sometimes I can write while talking to people, and sometimes I can't, so it's really all about what I'm writing. If I've got plenty of inspiration for it, I can easily write while talking to someone, but if I'm struggling, I need to be all tunnel-vision about it. Either way, I generally try to stay off the internet. So NO INTERNET for number 3.
4.) Warm socks. I know, it's weird, but if my feet are cold, I can't concentrate on writing, I just keep thinking about how cold I am.
5.) Nobody talking. This comes along with number 2, of course, because even right now, my Gramma won't actually shut up about whatever and just keeps talking. And then gets mad when I don't listen. And then gets mad when I finally get fed up and go WHAT, because she is seriously frustrating about the yammering.
Creating
1.) Music! If I'm working on earrings, I like to have music on, specifically fast-paced music. The better the music is, the faster I work. I made the mistake, a few weeks back, of making myself a "mellow" mix cd, and putting it in while I worked, and ended up with, like, only one pair made. >_<
2.) Failing that - Something on TV/a movie in the background. This gets a little harder to have on, because I'll almost always focus on it rather than making earrings, but if it's something I've seen a million times, I can ignore it and leave it on in the background.
3.) A blanket. I keep a blanket spread over my lap, so when I drop anything, it goes onto the blanket and not between the couch cushions or on the floor. (Also, mmm, warm.)
4.) Something to drink.
5.) My glasses. I can see close up without my glasses, which is handy, except that when I'm working on my earrings, it's easy to strain my eyes and I've found that if I wear my glasses while I do them, it's a million times easier to NOT strain them.

5.) Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - 2010: I worked this show and was pleased to be able to work it, I can't even tell you guys. It was so amazing and perfect.
4.) Jimmy Buffet - 2008: This was the very first show I worked and it was so much fun. Also, there is a certain amount of glee in getting to see your bosses doing fins to the left and fins to the right with Jimmy Buffet. IDEK.
3.) Snoop Dogg - 2008: What? It was an amazingly hilarious show.
2.) Brooks & Dunn - 2010: I used to LOVE me some Brooks & Dunn when I was a kid, and I was MORE than delighted to work the show this year.
1.) TAI/KISS - 2010: FUCK YES, TAI/KISS. For one, I'd been wanting to see TAI again since 2007, and since I had become a fan of them. For another, I wanted to see KISS, just didn't wanna pay the money. INSTEAD, I GOT PAID TO SEE THEM. I will happily take that, fuck yes. And despite the bad part of that show (a gentleman died in the middle of the show, right outside my section. It's weird to think that?), I got to see KISS put on one HELL of a show, and not only that, but I got to meet Chiz, Bill, and Sisky. MOST AMAZING.
ATTENDED:
5.) Elton John - 1997: It was my very first concert and my main huge memory from it is when he did Can You Feel The Love Tonight, and I lost my ever-loving mind in shrieky, glorious delight.
4.) Hanson - 2010: Come on, you guys had to have known this was gonna show up. :-D
3.) Paul McCartney - 2010: My Gramma and I saw him back in July and it was great, it was amazing. Was it worth what I paid? Nope. But my Gramma had a good time, and I got to hear him do Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da live WHICH WAS AMAZING AND DELIGHTFUL. Also, Paul is still adorable as fuck, good lord.
2.) Empires - 2010: I'm counting Charlotte here, because HOLY GOD, that was an amazing show. It really and honestly was. Like, in terms of energy and sound and everything. The minute that Sean stepped up to the mic to start I Want Blood the energy in that room exploded and it was possibly one of the most memorable shows I've been to.
1.) Flogging Molly - 2010: The Myrtle Beach show I went to was, hands down, the most amazingly tight Flogging Molly show I have ever been to. That show reinforced every single love I have for them.

- I love Skoosie's stuff so much. It's what made me reconsider Kevin Jonas, and what made me absolutely adore him. This fic though. This is a beautifully hilarious tribute to what makes Mike/Kevin so awesome. Sheer cracky delight.
4.)Beats, Wings byswear_jar (Dan/Jepha)
-This fic deviates so far from what I normally rec, I know. I got into The Used this year, and really into The Used fic I could find. This fic is one of those that I think completely and totally exemplifies everything about The Used's fandom as a whole. Dan is the drummer for The Used who has a thing for Jepha (The Used's kinky-hot-as-fuck bassist). And it's. Oh god, I can't even describe how much I love this fic.
3.) Iridium Is The Second Densest Substance On Earth (After Guys From Chicago) byjust_katarin (Sean/Tom, Background Panic GSF, background Nick Scimeca/De'Mar Hamilton)
-CHI-TOWN HIPSTERS, OH MY GOD, WHERE CAN YOU GO WRONG? Seriously, read it, and then read the followups (click the tag for "chitown hipsters"> and then die of delight. Tom Conrad is so perfectly written here, I can't even stand it. IT'S SO DELIGHTFUL, OH MY GOD.
2.) 'Cause None Of Us Were Angels byvalmontheights (Al Smith/Ryan Luciani)
-This is a gem that I wanna make everyone read. It is so perfect. Seriously, I love this fic, because it's from Al's point of view, but also because of his observations of the rest of the band. It's amazing and so lyrical.
1.)Fueled by Chlorophyll bytrascendenza
-All of these are so subject to change, like always, and this fic cracks me up so hard. It basically describes all of Bandom, pre-band break-ups to a T. It's perfect.

-I sort of love the quiet little gen pieces that I've managed with Cobra Starship. I wish there was more gen fic in general, and so, yeah.
4.) We Were Lost In The Silver Sea
-I can't help but still be in total love with this. I'm really proud of it.
3.) The Message is Clear (Gabe/Patrick)
-When I set out to write this, I thought it'd be a tiny fic...and while I worked at the racetrack, it kept growing as I wrote. So much of the dialogue was written then, and I'm glad for it. It makes me stupidly proud to have so much dialogue in a fic, especially when I used to try and stay away FROM writing it. I dunno, I love this fic.
2.) You Gotta Thrill My Soul (Always-a-girl!Tom/Always-a-girl!Sean)
-I actually started this fic WAY back when I first really started digging around in bandom. It was supposed to be Jon/Tom? And then I abanoned it. And this November, I was digging around in my text files to find stuff I had abanoned, to see if there was something salvagable...and then I sat down with it, and this came out of it. I'm really pleased with it.
1.) Dressed In The Scenery (Mike/Tom)
-Another fic I'm really proud of. It started out as crack, and then started out as tense and bitchy, before it settled into awkward reconciliation or whatever. Also, BACKGROUND JON/NICOLE FOR THE WIN, YES?

-I actually started this fic WAY back when I first really started digging around in bandom. It was supposed to be Jon/Tom? And then I abanoned it. And this November, I was digging around in my text files to find stuff I had abanoned, to see if there was something salvagable...and then I sat down with it, and this came out of it. I'm really pleased with it.
