Okay, so this is going to sound kooky as shit, but I've been yammering to [livejournal.com profile] hector_rashbaum on Girl!Kevin Jonas being a professional dancer on like, Dancing With The Stars.

YEAH. ♥

So, when she prompted purple socks in my first prompt post, this is what happened. I asked her last night to prompt some more colors that I'll connect to this, because yaaayyy. XD So the pairing is EVENTUAL Girl!Kevin/Brendon Urie.

Title: Stay Light
Pairing: Eventual Girl!Kevin/Brendon Urie
Rating: G
Word Count: 1,000 (!!!!)

::Disclaimer: I own ABSOLUTELY nothing. Dancing With The Stars is the American equivalent of Strictly Come Dancing. The 'Tom' mentioned in here is actually Tom Bergeron, the DWTS host. XD But seriously, I own nothing, save maybe the idea. MAYBE.::

Summary: And when Brendon stares at her, breathing hard as they get their scores, beaming, she can't help but think that her sixth season might be her favorite.

"Purple socks, really?"

"Dude, are you harshing on my purple socks? They're my lucky charms; you don't want me to not have my lucky charms," Brendon says, beaming at her, and Kevin can't help but roll her eyes, laughing as she rubs more lotion into her legs. They're backstage and she can hear Tom outside on the floor, setting up their clip package and she swallows a few times.

It might be her sixth season with Dancing With The Stars, but the first night jitters never completely go away.

Around them, the others mill around, chattering, watching the clip package and when Kevin looks out, she can see herself laughing as Brendon goofs off. She looks at her legs, glittery and smooth peeking out from the light blue fabric of her dress. She can feel the hairspray used to keep her hair back from her face and when she looks over at Brendon, he's watching her and smiling.

"You look nervous."

"I'm always nervous," she says, laughing softly. He reaches over, grabbing her hand and squeezing it lightly, smiling at her. He's got on a suit that looks out of place on him, and when they get led out to the dance floor, she stands in front of him, watching him settle into their first position.

"Big smile, stay light," Kevin says, watching Brendon nod and when the lights come up, she stops worrying.

Kevin always remembers the moments of every single dance, where they went wrong, where they went right, where they surprised her. And when Brendon stares at her, breathing hard as they get their scores, beaming, she can't help but think that her sixth season might be her favorite.

"Two sixes and a seven," she says happily, sitting beside of Brendon, and she can see the sparkle of the confessional background, and she lets Brendon talk and she doesn't remember what she says, but she remembers the way he hugs her tight, her face buried in his neck.

He's changing when the producers tell her about the next dance, taking the mic packs and she can't help but sit down on the floor, back against the wall. She's a professional, has been since she was small, and it never gets old, but sometimes she wonders if she should have settled on Dancing With The Stars so quickly.

"You okay?" Brendon asks, in his ratty jeans and old t-shirt, with his hair messy again and she smiles at him, nodding.

"Yep. How'd you like your first show night?"

"It was. Different," he says, sitting down beside of her as she laughs. He squeezes her knee in reassurance, which has taken some getting used to. She's no stranger to a person being tactile, but she's not sure about Brendon's version of it. She likes it, and she thinks that that's the problem, not the tactility.

"Tomorrow's gonna be weird, fair warning. You'll see me some, but I've gotta do the pro-dance segment with Lucas, David, and Nicole during both of the performances. But tomorrow night's a lot of standing around, honestly," she says as he nods. Brendon watches her like that, intent and careful, and it's at odds with how he acts sometimes, and she's left feeling too exposed with it. He squeezes her hand this time, smiling at her.

"Dude, I am so ready, you have no idea. It's gonna be awesome."

"Exactly."

She's done the show for six seasons now, and she's more than fairly sure that she's never going to get used to elimination nights and performing. She looks forward to them though; getting a chance to take a break off from the stress of telling Brendon to not look like they're going to publicly hang them. She likes choreographing the routines with David and the other pros, letting David lead and easily lift her.

When they dance together, she can understand where people would think that it's too hard to dance with fellow pros on top of training a celebrity. Kevin sometimes thinks about telling people that it's the only time that she doesn't have to worry about judging or points, and can just dance to have fun.

Kevin knows how that would sound and when she thinks back to her first season, learning how to deal with the producers and a reluctant celebrity, she sometimes cringes. She cringes when people still bring up the rumors about her and Zac, and when they bring it up and nothing else, those are the times she thinks about quitting.

She tells this to Brendon one day, when the cameras are off, explaining it to him after he asks, and she knows that it's a lot. But he listens, and that makes it worth it.

"Your brother did the show too, right?"

"Mmhm. He came in third last season and I think he was sort of burnt out on it? He's always worked harder than anyone else, and you could tell, even just watching what aired, that he was done."

"You ever feel done?"

"Sometimes? Sometimes I feel like I should be back in Jersey, doing the tournaments and competitions and getting more rank, but when I think about it, I think about how lonely that was? And to do the competitions, you have to have the right partner," Kevin says, taking a long swig of her water as Brendon nods. He picks at his salad, spearing a few stray pieces of carrot, chewing them thoughtfully.

"You were pretty high ranked, right?"

"3 time world champion in ballroom, yeah. It's not. That doesn't really come into play on the show, really, though. The only reason it would come up is for them to drag me out like a little show-poodle," she says, making Brendon laugh. She likes his laugh, the way that he nods and tells her about himself in return.

It's the first time that she thinks of spending time with Brendon as a crush, rather than a mutual admiration.
